히피한남 갤러리는 6월 14일부터 7월 12일까지 진청 작가의 개인전 <사슬 없는 서사, 유영하는 은유> (𝑈𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑑 𝑁𝑎𝑟𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒, 𝐹𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑀𝑒𝑡𝑎𝑝ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑠)를 개최합니다.

이번 전시는 진청 작가가 영국 유학 후 3년 만에 한국에서 선보이는 개인전으로, 문학과 회화라는 두 축을 유기적으로 결합한 작가의 예술 세계를 깊이 있게 조망합니다. 물, 책, 돌고래처럼 작가의 작업에 반복적으로 등장하는 상징들이 유영하듯 전시장 안을 하나의 서사로 꿰며, 필멸의 존재가 영원을 마주하는 순간을 은유적으로 그려냅니다.

전시는 ‘물’의 이야기를 품은 ‘뭍’의 사람으로부터 시작합니다. 종이, 돌, 두루마리와 같은 뭍의 서사의 그릇에 이야기를 기록하려는 시도는 각각 찢기고 녹슬고 마모되며 실패로 귀결되지만, 작가는 짙은 푸른빛의 물 속에서 사라지지 않는 이야기의 그릇을 발견합니다. 투명한 물방울들이 모여 푸른 바다를 이루듯 필멸이 영원에 닿는 지점이 시각적 사유를 통해 펼쳐집니다.

이번 전시에서는 회화 작업과 회화에서 확장되어 나온 듯한 벽화 작업이 흐르듯 설치되어 있어, 관람객은 마치 물 속을 유영하듯 작품을 마주하게 됩니다. 이에 더해, 작가가 영국에서 만든 동판화와 석판화 작업들도 회화와 벽화 작업들과 함께 짙은 푸른색의 이야기를 꿰어 나갑니다.

Hippie Hannam Gallery is delighted to present <Unchained Narrative, Floating Metaphors> a solo exhibition by Jean Blue. This is the artist’s first solo show in Korea in three years since her studies in the UK. Interweaving literature and painting, Jean Blue creates a symbolic world where water, books, and dolphins drift through the space, shaping a narrative that explores the moment when the mortal meets the eternal.

In this exhibition ‘Unchained Narrative, Floating Metaphors’, Jean Blue imagines an epiphany in which mortals witness immortality.
The literary and visual symbols of water that have circulated throughout the artist‘s works flow in and out of the paintings, weaving a narrative between the ephemeral and the eternal.
The exhibition begins by introducing a person who was born on land but was gifted the story of water from birth. As the individual attempts to write down the story of water, all of the text containers available on land (paper, stones, scrolls) are torn, rusted, and worn.
In Blue’s world, where land represents mortality and sea represents immortality, the ephemeral being pours stories into the deep blue water, the eternal carrier of narratives.
The mortal‘s story is immortalised in a fluid vessel of text that never tears, rusts, or wears. The show, like clear water drops gathering to form a blue sea, eloquently illuminates the moment when mortals encounter immortality.
